Winters is a rough time for your skin and we know how much of a problem  it is to have dry skin. Dry skin is caused by the decrease in fatty acids and natural oils in the skin which are responsible for a supple and soft skin. 

Dry Skin also known as Xerosis can be seen in people of any age, race or either gender, however incidents of dry skin increase as we age. Some of the factors that can cause dry skin are changes in weather, age, environmental conditions and so on. Keeping dry skin moisturized is important and there are also range of treatments available to treat dry skin at home. 

Below are some easy to do home made natural masks to prevent/for dry and itchy skin 

  • Oatmeal Mask : Oatmeal is one natural ingredient that is good for dry skin. It has natural antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. Oats also contain a natural cleansing compound called Saponins which remove the dirt and oil that clog the pores and exfoliate the skin. Add powdered oatmeal to your bath or use a cream which contains oatmeal to treat dry itchy skin

  • Honey Mask : Raw honey is well known for its healing properties. In ancient times, honey was used to treat skin disorders and wounds. Take raw honey, apply it to your face and leave it on for 15-20 min, wash and pat dry. You can also add lemon to the mask for clear skin and don't forget to moisturize the skin well, as lemon may cause extreme dryness.

  • Banana Face Mask : Who needs those expensive creams and botox when you have banana. Right ? Banana is rich in moisture and potassium. Mash up a medium sized banana into a paste and apply it on you face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash. You can also use banana with yogurt and honey.

  • Gram Flour Face Mask : Gram Flour also known as Besan is a natural cleanser and scrub. Apply it with turmeric or curd on your face for 15-20 minutes and wash dry. 
  • Aloe Vera Mask : Aloe Vera has many benefits. It is an excellent natural moisturizer for skin. It is also great for hair as it prevents hair loss and dandruff. Aloe Vera contains vitamin A, C and E which are antioxidants. Aloe Vera helps in moisturizing the skin, keeping the skin hydrated and glowing
